Vote On the Color of the Bow Street Water Tank

Bow Street Water Tank
Bow Street Water Tank

Maine Water Company has informed the Town of their plans to repaint the Bow Street water tank, shown in the pictures attached, starting later this summer. Water tanks are re-painted every 20 years on average, so we can expect the new paint job to grace the view of Quarry Ridge south of Bow Street for at least that long. As such, Maine Water Company has given the Town the opportunity to pick from a narrow range of the color palette (including light blue, light green, and light gray colors only). We’re asking residents to weigh in by leaving a comment on the Town's facebook page or by emailing csmith@freeportmaine.com with your preferred color.  Please note the pictures of the tank in this post were taken on a partly cloudy day against light gray clouds.

Fine print: Votes must be received prior to 5PM on Tuesday, August 11th to count. Only colors on the swatch attached will be considered (we’ve learned from the Boaty McBoatface debacle). The top three vote getters will be transmitted in priority order to Maine Water Company. If the top choice of paint color is not available, the highest ranked available color selection will used. The final say in paint color selection lies with Maine Water Company.
