Have you ever thought about volunteering for a Town Board or Committee?

The Town of Freeport is currently accepting applications for the following Boards/Committees:

The Board of Appeals hears and decides on appeals to administrative decisions of the Codes Enforcement Officer and land use decisions of the Project Review Board. The Board of Appeals meets the first Monday in the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers.

The Conservation Commission is involved in the acquisition and maintenance of property in town for the public benefit.  They meet the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Freeport Community Services.

The Cable Regulatory Committee meets as needed and is looking for new members to get involved in local community television, FCTV 3, and help guide the town channel and programming into the digital age.

The Board of Assessment Review meets as needed and shall have the same powers that are granted to such boards by the laws of the State of Maine. It shall adopt, subject to Council approval, such regulations as may be necessary to carry out its functions of assessment review.

The Police Advisory Committee is looking for a student representative to serve.  The Committee meets the third Monday at 6:00 pm at Town Hall.  They work to maintain an open and transparent relationship between the town, it’s residents and the Police Department for the betterment of all.

The Town maintains various Boards and Committees ranging in subject matter.  Find your place to show your talents and traits!  It could be the Coastal Waters Commission, the Community Library, Complete Streets, Hunter Road Fields, Planning Board, Project Review Board, Police Advisory Committee, Sustainability Committee, Shellfish Commission or the Winslow Park Commission.
