Our "Growing Freeport Together" video series highlights local entrepreneurs that are moving Freeport forward and have collaborated with the Town to build a more robust future for our community. 

Our first featured business for 2026 is Freeport Mind-Body Fitness, which offers personalized instruction and various classes to help people of all ages achieve optimal well-being through a holistic approach to fitness. Hear owner Kyung-sun Baek talk about how the Town's Fit-Up Grant program helped make Mind-Body Fitness what it is today!

As long as people have called the banks of the Harraseeket River home, Freeport’s working waterfront has been an economic and cultural engine for our community. From fishing to shipbuilding, generations have made a living and a life on the water. Join us to learn about a new wave of innovation sweeping the Town dock and meet Freeport’s fresh crop of sea farmers who are connecting the pristine waters of Casco Bay to Main Street and beyond with world-class, sustainably grown oysters.

Freeport Housing Trust is a community-based charitable organization whose mission is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities to the lower and moderate-income households of Freeport. Executive Director Matt Peters shares the Housing Trust's story, along with input from Town of Freeport Councilor-At-Large and Senior Program Officer for Strategic Initiatives at the non-profit Genesis Fund.

The Pinkies - a trio of monumental steel sculptures sheathed in reclaimed fishing gear from beaches and coastal waters - were created by artist Pamela Moulton aka "Posey" with the help of fishermen, nonprofits, and over 5,000 volunteers. These tall, huggable sculptures are on display through October 2025 on the lawn in front of Freeport’s Town Hall at 30 Main Street.

Mellisa Wilkins, founder of Freeport Market and M.A.D.E. (Makers Artists Designers & Entrepreneurs). Mellisa's business is rooted in celebrating local artists and their unique creations while offering a variety of products and services. Also, through a Fit-Up business grant with the Town, Mellisa has been able to offer a space with a coffee shop and wine bar, creating community within Freeport.

Loom Clothing & Home founder Natalya Nickitina shares her story of being born and bred in the fashion industry, from her Ukrainian roots to her sustainability-focused Freeport location. With help from the Town through a Fit-Up Grant, Natalya was able to renovate the loft space and make her apparel boutique dreams come true!

Uprise Yoga co-founder Sami Zanfagna speaks on Uprise's impact on the yoga community in Freeport and on the company's history, including the essential use of Fit-Up Grant funding from the Town, which helped make the dream of opening a yoga studio in downtown Freeport possible.

AEC Engineering has been an innovative technology firm operating in Freeport for over 40 years. Starting out in its founder's home on Flying Point and eventually settling at its current location on Lower Main Street, AEC (Automation & Electronic Controls) exports cutting-edge control panels across the United States. Thanks to product demand, owner Tim Hooper looks to expand AEC's facility. In order to do so, the company first needed help from the Town with zoning restrictions.
