Boat Re-Registration

You may re-register your boat online through the State of Maine's website. You may use this service if you:

  • Have previously registered your boat
  • Live in or primarily dock your boat in a municipality that participates in this online service (such as Freeport)
  • And are required to pay excise tax

For first-time registration of your boat, you must visit the Town Clerk's office. 

PLEASE NOTE: as of 11/25/25, there has been a delay in delivery of 2026 registration stickers coming to Maine. Registration stickers will not be distributed to the Town Clerk's office until after 12/26/25. We apologize for the inconvenience. To re-register, you may still use the online serivce linked above.
