September 2023 Updates

  • As part of the Climate Action Planning process, Freeport has identified a set of emission reduction targets to strive for over the next few decades. These targets will help us track our progress on implementing our climate action roadmap. By creating targets, Freeport has joined other communities, and the State, in the movement to minimize polluting emissions. These targets are voluntary - they serve to measure progress that guides strategic action, policy development, and exemplify our community’s determination and commitment.
  • The Town Council voted to approve FSAB’s recommended targets in October. View the Memo.

January 2023 Updates

  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory: We are currently collecting data on Freeport's emissions from 2019 and calculating emissions-by-sector for the Town. Freeport and GPCOG decided to collect and analyze 2019 emissions data as it was the most readily available and accurate data to represent pre-pandemic activity in Freeport.
  • Vulnerability Assessment: We have collected census data and are currently working with municipal staff to collect data on Freeport's community, ecosystem, and infrastructure in order to assess the overall resilience of the Town.
  • Met with Town Department Heads on January 18th to discuss involvement in the Climate Action Plan
