Overview
Freeport Sustainability Advisory Board's (FSAB's) mission statement is to advise the Freeport Town Council on the sustainability and resiliency of present and future operations, highlight potential opportunities, and promote new and existing sustainability efforts. This includes guiding the development of policy and practices that integrate environmental health, social and economic well-being, community engagement, and the town’s comprehensive plan.

- Land Use, Construction, and Building Operations
- Carbon Footprint, Emissions, and Pollution
- Energy and Electricity

- Food
- Culture
- Transportation

The FSAB was established by Ordinance of the Freeport Town Council, and tasked by the Town Council with the following:
612.1 Establishment
The Sustainability Advisory Board shall consist of seven (7) members serving three year staggered terms. A quorum of the Committee is necessary to conduct an official meeting and shall consist of at least four (4) members. Members shall all be residents of the Town of Freeport. The Committee shall annually elect officers from its own membership. The officers shall be eligible for re-election.
612.2 Duties and Responsibilities
The Committee shall:
- Advise/recommend to the Town Council through the Town Manager;
- Advise/recommend all sustainability-related policies to the Town Council and/or through Town Staff;
- Study any other matters or duties that from time to time are requested by the Town Council and/or Town Staff as it pertains to the above matters;
- Meet monthly as determined by the Committee.
