When do I need to license my dog?

Dogs six months and older are required to be licensed. It’s the law.

Online dog registration is available from October 15th to January 31st of each year. You may do this through the State Website.

New dog licenses can also be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours. Please bring proof of the rabies vaccination and spay/neutering. The cost at town hall is $6 and $11, respectively.

All dog licenses expire December 31st of each year. You may renew your dog license anytime between October 15th and January 31st. You must renew your dog license no later than January 31st of each year, or a late fee will be charged. The Town Clerk is not authorized to waive the late fee, as it is a State imposed fee.

A rabies clinic is held every January in the Town Hall and is open to anyone, regardless of residency. Any animal may be vaccinated at the clinic. Clinics are also held several times a year at Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick. For dates and more information, call them at 725-5051 or visit them at their website.
