Employment Opportunity - Town Planner – Town of Freeport, Maine

The Town of Freeport is seeking an experienced “big picture” thinker to lead community development efforts as its next Town Planner. Freeport is at an exciting time, with many important projects and initiatives either underway or on the immediate horizon. Upcoming projects over the next several years will include:

  • Update of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan (last revised in 2011).
  • Participating in several major transportation infrastructure planning efforts, including reconstruction and improvement of several bridges, highway interchanges, and arterial routes which are expected to be undertaken within the next 5 years.  
  • Developing and reviewing land use ordinance amendments that help target economic development in commercial areas while maintaining the rural character of residential areas.
  • Working with staff and volunteers to harness community enthusiasm surrounding bicycle/pedestrian and “complete streets” initiatives and projects.
