THE PARK...

Winslow Park and Campground offers:
• 100 campsites including 23 sites located on the shores of Casco Bay;
• a 6/10 mile trail through a white pine stand with magnificent views of the South Freeport Harbor and Casco Bay;
• two picnic shelters which may be rented for family and class reunions, company picnics, weddings and similar celebrations;
• numerous picnic tables and grills; a tidal beach;
• a boat launch area for anything from trailer-carried power and sail boats to canoes and kayaks;
• a Thursday night concert series during July and August, with local bands performing near the playground;
• four bedroom cottage rented weekly during the camping season and monthly during the off season.
DAY USE

A fee is charged (Freeport Residents: $2.00 per person; Non-Residents: $3.00 per person). Day use hours are from 8 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset for use of tidal beach, picnic area, trails, playground, and Thursday Night Concert Series

GROUP SHELTERS

Great for your company picnic, family or class reunion. One covered area accommodates 75 to 100 and the other 150 to 175. The large area rents for $150.00 and the small area for $100.00 per day plus the day use charge.
HARB COTTAGE

Four bedroom, furnished cottage on Stockbridge Point available by the week in the Summer season, and on a monthly basis from November 1 through Memorial Day. For more information on the winter rental call Park Manager at 1-207-865-9052. A lottery is held in the fall to determine rentals for the coming summer. To participate in the lottery for 2012 summer rentals, leave your name and address at the Gatehouse (1-207-865-4198 during the camping season).

DIRECTIONS

From the South:

* Take I-295 North and get off at Exit 17 (Yarmouth/Freeport Exit)
* At the exit ramp take Route One North. You will pass the Muddy Rudder Restaurant, Freeport Inn and Café on your right. At the top of the hill after the Casco Bay Motel, take a right at the blinking light onto South Freeport Road (if you pass the Big Indian, you've gone too far).
* Take a right onto Staples Point Road (there is a wooden sign for Winslow Park at the corner of South Freeport Road and Staples Point Road).
* Stay on Staples Point Road all the way to the end and you will come into Winslow Park.

From the North:

* Take I-295 South and get off at Exit 20 (formerly exit 19). Take a left at the end of the exit ramp. At the first traffic light after the overpass take a right onto Route One South. Stay on Route One South until you come to South Freeport Road. Take a left onto South Freeport Road (at the blinking light). Take a right onto Staples Point Road (there is a wooden sign for Winslow Park at the corner of South Freeport Road and Staples Point Road)
* Stay on Staples Point Road all the way to the end and you will come into Winslow Park.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the History of the park? - In 1953, Adelaide Winslow Harb gave this scenic oceanfront gift to the Town in memory of her mother, Delia B. Powers Winslow. She entrusted some 90 acres “…with the buildings and improvements thereon…known as Stockbridge Point…” with the proviso that the land and its buildings “… shall be used as a public park and for public recreational purposes…” The Park is located at the end of Staples Point Road on a peninsula between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River.

How can I reserve a campsite and how soon can I do so?
When Reservations can be made:
Reservations will be accepted on or after May 7, 2012 for the camping season � Thursday of Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. The minimum length of stay is 2 nights for a Saturday stay and 1 night for stays Monday � Thursday, excluding holidays. (For example, if a Saturday is reserved either the Friday before and/or Sunday after must be reserved). The maximum stay at SITES 1-23 is fourteen (14) nights during July and August. Reservations must be received 2 business days prior to the first night�s stay. Business hours from Monday, May 7 through Saturday, May 12 are 7 AM until 3 PM. From Monday May 14 through Wednesday, May 23 hours are 9 AM until 3 PM Monday through Friday. During the camping season hours of operation are 8 AM to 8 PM Monday through Sunday.

By Telephone:
Starting on May 7, reservations can be made by calling (207) 865-4198 or (207) 865-9574. The 9574 number will only be used through May 7th. During peak periods, these lines are extremely busy so please be patient.

In Person / Walk In:
Starting on May 7, reservations can be made in person by visiting the Park�s Gatehouse during the hours noted above.

By Mail:
On or after April 25th but before May 7, reservation forms can be obtained by requesting same from the Park office at (207) 865-9052, if no answer leave a message with your request and leave your name, mailing address and phone number. After May 7, reservations forms can be obtained by calling the Gatehouse at (207) 865-4198. Remember during peak periods, the 4198 number will be extremely busy. Reservation forms must be received 2 business days prior to the first night�s stay. All mail-in registrations must be postmarked no earlier than April 25, 2012. Requests with earlier postmarks will not be processed. Mail-in requests with proper postmarks will not be processed until May 7. Mail-in reservation forms should be mailed to Winslow Park, Reservation Desk, c/o Town Hall, 30 Main Street, Freeport, Maine 04032.

Acceptable Form of Payment for Reservations:
The following are acceptable means of payment: Master Card, VISA, Discover, checks (payable to Winslow Park), Travelers checks and cash (only for walk-in reservation), and money orders. Reservation confirmation for mail-in reservations will be mailed to campers as soon as possible. If it does not reach you before you leave, the Park will have a copy when you arrive at the Gatehouse. Confirmation will be given orally for telephone and in person reservations. You will be required to show ID (e.g. valid photo driver�s license) when you arrive.

Canceling a Reservation?
Reservations can be canceled by calling the Gatehouse at (207)865-4198 at least 2 days prior to the first night�s stay. When requesting a cancellation, a $15.00 processing fee will be withheld from each reservation refund. There are no refunds for one-night reservations. If the Park is not notified prior to the scheduled stay, a refund will not be issued.

Can I bring my dog to the Park?
Yes, campers can bring their pet(s) for a fee of $1.00 each. During the camping season dogs must be on a leash at all times and they are never allowed on the beach, playground or the volleyball court nor in the bathrooms. Pet owners are expected to clean up after their pets.

Are there any special events or activities at the Park?
There are a number of special activities that take place at the Park, including:

The "Camp Seaside" program, sponsored by Freeport Community Education, provides a day camp experience at Winslow Park for over fifty Freeport children ranging in age from 7 to 10 years. Activities include arts and crafts, swimming, games, kayaking, weekly barbecues and sports.

Prior to the campground opening, the Park is host to a Girl Scout Camporee. More than 100 girls and their parents from Freeport and surrounding towns participate in this weekend event. The Scouts experience camping, wilderness cooking, kayaking, astronomy and other worthwhile activities.

The Park also sponsors Family Fun Day on a Saturday in June. The event features a 5 and 10K race, family games, and free ice cream and hot dogs. Admission to the Park on Family Fun Day is free.

During July and August, the Park sponsors a Thursday night concert series featuring local bands. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Day use admission is charged, and a playground and picnic area is also nearby for use. Campers and season pass holders attend free.

The Park also hosts the �Lobsterman Triathlon� which features a 1.5K swim in the clean, calm waters of Casco Bay, a 40K bike along beautiful coastline and gently rolling hills and a 10K run through the Village of South Freeport. The 2012 event is scheduled for a Saturday in September.

2 weeks of free camping are scheduled for Freeport residents. For more information, call 865-4198 during the camping season.

What kind of trails do you have at the Park?
A self-guided nature trail borders the Park adjacent to the Harraseeket River and Casco Bay. Benches along the trail afford hikers the opportunity of stopping and enjoying the great views and tranquility of the Park. Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera.

Is the Park opened during the Winter?
While the Park is "officially closed" from mid-October through Mid-May, Winslow Park's playground and hiking and jogging trails are available and, once the snow comes, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are also available.

Do the campsites have hookups?
No. Water is available throughout the camp ground, but not at every site. Modern showers and bathroom facilities are available. There are no electric or sewer hookups. Generators are permitted during specific hours and a dumping station is available.

What other facilities are available?
Other facilities include a tidal beach and boat launch, picnic tables and grills, a fishing pier, a playground, and a volley ball court.
